Green Labs is
calling for applications for all types of climate technologies that
can contribute to breaking Denmark’s dependence on fossil
fuels.
The secretariat of
Green Labs expects to be able to earmark DKK 130 million for the
first round of applications.
After a comprehensive series of consultations within the entire
Danish clean technologies sector, applications are currently being
accepted for the “Green Labs DK” funding programme. The programme,
which plays a key role in the business climate strategy, makes
grants for the establishment of new facilities to test and
demonstrate climate technology of international importance. Some
210 million kroner has been set aside over the next three years to
fund the programme.
“The consultations showed us that we were on the right track
and that there existed a major demand for funding for this
programme. The sheer scale of qualified and innovative proposals
has in itself been overwhelming. Green Labs DK will be able to
contribute to the government’s objective to make the country
independent of fossil fuels and at the same time it will keep
Denmark abreast of developments in future green technologies,”
says Minister for Climate and Energy Lykke Friis.
Grants are available for all types of climate technologies as long
as they can help to make Denmark independent of fossil fuels. This
will primarily be projects based on effective energy use and the
use of renewable energy technologies.
“Green Labs DK will brand Denmark as a test country for new
green technologies. The country will become a byword for
world-class testing and demonstration facilities,” Friis
says.
Applications must demonstrate that they require significant test
and demonstration activities while at the same time showing the
global potential for the commercial dissemination of their
technology and a robust business model for operating the
facilities. Furthermore the facilities must be of a high
international standard.
“I would like to encourage everyone involved in the various
fields of technology to collaborate with each other in order to
produce powerful applications. Applicants must show that they can
create state-of-the-art centres which gather together research,
education and test and demonstration facilities,” Friis
says.
The call for applications is available at
www.greenlabs.dk. The deadline
for applications is 3pm on 20 October 2010.
