Co-operation with businesses

27-05-2009

In 2009 the government is launching a business strategy to ensure that Denmark takes advantage of Danish firms’ strong position in the climate change arena

Economic growth for Danish companies must be combined with a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. The Climate and Energy Ministry is working in particular with the government business climate panel to ensure that Denmark's international reduction commitment is also seen as an opportunity for growth. The business climate panel has a central role in formulating the government's business strategy, which is to be unveiled in 2009.

The Climate and Energy Ministry works closely together with the industry on a day-to-day basis to make it easy and efficient to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and achieve energy savings for companies.

The Climate and Energy Ministry and the government are also behind a series of initiatives that offer businesses advice and practical tools.

The Danish business community and its organisations’ interest in having their points of view considered and their interests represented prior to the conference has increased steadily. The government has therefore decided to establish a Business Panel on Climate Change.

Furthermore Climate Consortium Denmark has been set up as a joint venture between the Danish government and five major business organisations.
The Consortium is dedicated to promoting Danish business and industry.

In December 2009, when Copenhagen will be the venue of COP15, the United Nations’ Climate Change Conference, and Climate Consortium Denmark will showcase a number of initiatives aimed at drawing the world’s attention to Danish solutions.
