Promoting renewable energy

31-07-2009

The directive to promote renewable energy sources will gradually increase the share of renewable energy's share of total energy consumption to 20 % by 2020. The proposal forms a key element in the Commission's overall climate and energy package for reducing EU greenhouse gas emissions and promoting the diversification of energy sources.
