Municipalities can now apply for a title as Energy Town and become part of Denmark’s forerunners among climate and end energy friendly towns
Today the minister of Climate and Energy, Connie Hedegaard opened second round of applications for Energy Towns. In April there will be a proclamation of three new Energy Towns that serve as good, innovative examples for others and at the same time will become a show case at the climate conference in Copenhagen in December. Final date for applying is 27
th of February 2009.
“Energy Towns must be ideal in several ways. They must influence public opinion and local companies to act climate and energy friendly. And they must be exemplary when it comes to their own operation. By being good examples Energy Towns can inspire other municipalities by showing how relatively easy it is to make an effort that also pays of economically,” said Connie Hedegaard.
